When visiting a city by the beach the rule of thumb is: eat as much seafood as you can. So we did. The selection of pempek in this family restaurant is quite typical to your assortment of pempek: telur, lenjer and kulit.
We chose pempek telur and lenjer served with chopped up cucumbers. Unfortunately, we chose poorly. Yes, it was good with a hint of fish flavour also the sauce was tangy and the right level of spicy; not too burning in your mouth but not too mild either.

So then why did we choose poorly you might ask? Because the most popular pempek (recommended by the chef and our tour guide) in this restaurant is kulit, not telur or lenjer. Kulit. If you plan to visit this restaurant, don’t make the same mistake we did, and choose any other pempek rather than kulit. We came here with friends, luckily, some of them ordered pempek kulit so we got to taste it a bit and yes… it did taste divine. Fresh fish taste and the right amount of chewiness. The taste of the fish was more defined and bold in the pempek kulit compared to other varieties. The sauce highlights the fish taste even more, complimenting its flavour.
There is also tekwan if pempek is not what you are looking for. If, for some reason you choose to go to a restaurant that specializes in pempek but you want something different.
We were about to give this restaurant a 3.5 out of 5, but the pempek kulit changed everything. As long you order the pempek kulit, we can assure you that this is one of the culinary destinations in Belitung you would not want to miss!
